What Masters’?

I recently saw in my teaching co-ordinators’ office a poster which advised:

If you are going to bite the bullet, bite hard.

And so, the time has come to start the bite. The What Masters’ page now contains information about nine MA courses and now the time has come to select the ones to which I would like to apply. Current favoutites are:

  • Aston - there is a strong suggestion from the website that they really care a great deal about student support.
  • Surrey - MSc in ELT Management: I am still not sure about whether this pathway is necessarily a good idea, or if it particularly suits my personality. Remember Peter Cornish?
  • Nottingham - very flexible elective course modules.
  • Manchester - very good reviews from previous students, including Peter from British Council, Middle East.
  • Reading - the possibility to start distance learning and finish on campus is a nice option to have.
  • Oxford - as per Reading.

If any reader has any suggestions, warnings, comments about ommissions, please let me know.

What about Peter Cornish?

Peter was an old friend who worked with me in my summer school days at Embassy CES. He is currently of whereabouts unknown, but I would love to hear from him once again…

I also worked for embassy ces summer schools with peter. He’s in vietnam these days.

Just to clarify for those interested

Was on the Surrey MSc in ELT Management and found faults in their materials

Queried the problem and was patronized

Asked for a 3rd party opinion and was proved right

Not a good example of student care from an organisation teaching about student care
