Testing - some things to mull over…

Think back to your own experience as a language learner and ponder these questions:

  • Why were you tested?
  • How did you feel about being tested?
  • What happened as a result of tests?

What is the purpose of the tests that you set your learners?

  • What happens as a result of these tests?
  • In your experience, how do learners feel about being tested?

How do you

  • assess your own language ability?
  • assess a learner’s language ability?

Are there any differences between the two?

Have you ever encountered problems giving or marking tests?

Are some language skills more difficult to test than others?

The rest of the posts in the category ‘testing’ aim to provide, in some measure, the answers to these questions.
