The circle game: You say and I listen
This type of activity lends itself to ımproving group cohesion through a cooperative or collaborative task involving listening and speaking.
Aim: Learners will participate in a listening and speaking collaborative task involving sequences. Ex. counting
Materials: Sequential prompts: I usually get the learners to prepare their own on torn up pieces of paper. This saves preparation time and has the advantage that the activity can be done at the drop of a hat a a quick filler.
Time: 5-10 minutes
Level: A1-B2 (higher levels for a bit of fun only…)
- Put the learners in a big circle and give out the prompts.
- The student with number one begins and then the students go around in sequence until the last number, then they can pass their number to the person on the right and do the sequence again.
- As they get more used to the game the cards can be distributed in differing ways, or the students differently arranged.
Other possible sequences would include:
- The alphabet
- Months of the year
- Days of the week
- The times of day
Can you add any more?
