Short videos

Video frontAfter an afternoon’s fun making videos of the various techniques listed and described in the technique page, we realised that our old digital camera is not quite up to making videos. The sound is really quite poor and the resolution of the video does not really provide enough detail. Rather than waste the footage, we decided to include some of it in a post. So, until we get a better camera, this is what we have to live with. Maybe I should put a Paypal donation button on the site – ha ha!

They are all quite short because they take an age to upload with my extra-shoddy dial up. It is known as Superonline though we prefer to call it “Superoffline, Shiteonline”! We are moving to Izmir (Turkey) in March so we should have a reasonable ADSL whih will make life much easier. But, until then…

Here are the videos:

  • Alzapúa: this videos shows how to do the exercise: alzapúa using only upstroke. See the techinques page for this.
  • Alzapúa: this is a normal alzapúa in tangos compás.
  • Bulería: features a rasgueado fill-in often heard in and around Jerez.
  • Soleá: here you can see the classic soleá rasgueado and another two compases of a rasgueado by Moratío.
  • Tangos: with alzapúa.
  • Bulería: this shows what I mean by thumb trémolo. The actual falseta is one that I learned from some disreputable types I shared a squat with in Morón de la Frontera. They told me that this is a falseta of Diego del Gastor.
  • Alegría: basic compás and close (cierre) all in rasgueado.
